And as an added value, carriers double as safety restraints in shopping carts and full-sized chairs.

The MaxiMom Twin and Triplet carriers can do all of the above as well as allow you to carry two or three babies at a time. The MaxiMom Twin carrier allows you to carry two babies on your chest, facing in or facing the world, or one baby on your back and one on your chest. The MaxiMom carrier will allow you to have ‘life after birth’, as returning to daily life with two babies, or three, can be quite challenging. This allows Mom and Dad to each carry one baby at a time

The MaxiMom carriers have shoulder straps that can be removed to place baby in the car seat or in a high chair…No fussing babies! The soft baby section of the carrier can be put on before you go out and stay on until you arrive back home. Baby can wear this main piece like an outfit. Padded in all the right places, the MaxiMom carriers will keep parents and babies comfy all day. The MaxiMom carriers even have a toy strap to hold pacifiers and a pocket that holds bottles. The leg holes are padded and include drawstrings, so they are adjustable as baby grows.

Nursing Baby Slings. Breast Feeding With a Baby Sling

Breast Feeding with a Baby Sling. Nursing in a sling

Nursing in a Baby Carrier

Nursing your baby in a sling is very simple with a little practice. Always make sure that your baby’s head is positioned AWAY from the rings. This gives you ample fabric to position your baby correctly and then cover yourself. Always support your baby with your arm as you normally would when you nurse in the cradle position. Even though the sling is supporting them this keeps their head at the correct position on your breast so your nipples don’t become sore. As your baby grows it is fine for their feet and legs to hang out the end where the rings are. If your baby falls asleep in this position and stops nursing it’s easy to continue carrying them this way or you can lay them down gently and then slip the sling off over your head. Many moms find they like to use the sling to nurse discreetly when they are in public. Not only can it be used to nurse while you are seated but it’s also a great way to be able to meet your baby’s needs yet be able to continue your shopping!

What’s the best way to nurse my baby in a sling?

Some women can nurse in any carrier, we’ve found that those that offer the most adjustability are best for nursing newborns or any child in the cradle (laying down position).

Our favorite is the wrap for ease of nursing on either side and the total adjustability. A stretchy wrap such as the Moby is great for newborns, but a gauze or woven wrap is easier to use for heavier children. For a tiny baby, you can use the “pea pod” position (fold the straps in half to create a pocket for the baby) by moving the fabric on the inside away from your body to make room for the baby to latch on.

For larger children, you can tie the front wrap cross carry with the pocket on the inside. Place baby inside the pocket and cross one strap under baby’s bum for support, the other can be used to support his head.

For those early days when baby just wants to nurse all the time, consider wearing your wrap as a shirt. Just go topless & place baby skin to skin and nurse as needed. Baby is happy - close to mom and well fed. This is especially good for babies who are premature or suffering from failure to thrive. Mamma’s warmth and convenient milk supply will do nothing but help.

The Ring Sling is probably the most popular carrier for nursing, as it is very adjustable and the tail can be used for privacy. Most women find it easiest to nurse with the baby’s head away from the rings. You can also nurse in the football position this way.

For children who like to nurse in an upright position, the wrap or Mei Tai are great options. You simply lower the straps a bit to get baby to the right level and then lift the breast to the baby (nursing over the top instead of lifting your shirt is often easier).

For older babies and toddlers, many moms prefer to nurse in the hip carry, they simply lift their shirt (or open the nursing slits in a nursing top) and latch baby on. Any carrier that you use for hip carries can be used for this.

Step 1: Place your baby in the sling using the cradle hold or reverse cradle hold.
Step 2:Turn your baby’s body slightly in the sling so that the two of you are tummy-to-tummy when your baby needs to nurse.
Step 3: Pull down the sling rail closest to your body, and pull up your shirt or open your nursing shirt; this should give your baby instant access.
Step 4: Tighten the sling so that your baby’s head is level with your breast if he or she is in the reverse cradle hold (head away from the rings).
Step 5: Rotate the sling around your body if your baby is in the cradle hold (head toward the rings), until the baby’s head is at the level of your breast. This may mean that the shoulder pad slips in front of your shoulder, but you can readjust the sling after you nurse, or wear the pad slightly further back if you know you may have to nurse.
Step 6: To be extra discreet, pull up the outer padded sling rail so that it covers your baby’s head, making sure it is still open at the top.

New Generation Beco Butterfly Baby Carriers

Beco Butterfly Baby Carriers

Beco Baby Carriers combine great ergonomics, excellent weight distribution and stylish design. Every piece is handmade from top quality designer fabric and heavy duty webbing and buckles, and can be used with children from newborns to toddlers in front and back carries.

The internal sling or pouch is the most innovative feature of the Butterfly model. It enables you to securely buckle your baby into the carrier, then handle Baby + Carrier as a single unit. You can pass the baby to another caregiver without removing baby from the carrier. You can also put your 3+ month-old baby on your back very easily, just like putting on a backpack!

The Beco Butterfly contains a built-in infant insert for newborns (shown at left) that allows your baby to ride higher in the carrier in an ergonomically comfortable position. Since the insert base is narrower then the actual carrier base, infants can comfortably spread their legs while retaining the recommended seated position of knees at the same level as the bottom.

When your baby outgrows the need for the newborn insert, you simply place her into the main body compartment, and the infant insert lays flat against the carrier panel. In the first photo at above right, you can see the newborn insert flattened out of the way, between the wearer’s hands.

Beco Butterfly Product Details

• Child can be worn on front or back and easily shifted from one to the other.
• Tall, tapered carrier body provides lots of support for your baby or toddler, holds baby close to your body for greater comfort. Prevents the shoulder strain associated with wearing babies who like to lean backwards.
• Adjustable buckles on the top of the body of carrier enable easy nursing access. In a front carry, loosen the buckles to allow your baby to drop down lower in the carrier. Then lift your breast to allow your baby to latch on.
• The Butterfly has a removable head rest/sleeping hood, shaped like a rectangle with rounded edges. The head rest attaches to the body of the carrier with smooth nylon webbing and triglide buckles. The hood can be stored in the “hood keeper”, a sleeve-like pocket placed on the waist belt.
• The shoulder straps have been fully redesigned. They are ergonomically shaped to better adapt to the wearer’s body, and are padded with 0.75″ foam for ultimate comfort.
• The sternum (chest) strap is now connected to the shoulder straps and slides along their length. No more lost chest straps!
• The waistband is now firmer and more supportive (no more folding over, pouching out or deforming), while still maintaining the same slim profile.
• High-quality fabrics are smooth, stylish, and comfortable against the skin.
• Fits waists from 25 up to 50 inches.
• Padded leg holes prevent chafing of little thighs.
• Recommended care: wash on gentle cycle in cold water with a mild detergent. Hang to dry overnight in well ventilated area. Spot clean when needed. Care instructions are sewn to the carrier on the product label, so you always have them handy.
• There was a voluntary recall of the first edition Butterfly back in January 2008, due to some issues with the nylon straps possibly slipping through the buckles. The new design has buckles that are super-secure.

Selecting A Baby Sling. Choosing a Baby Sling

Selecting A Baby Sling. Choosing a Baby Sling

Baby carriers or baby slings have been around as long as babies have been around. Different regions with different needs have developed unique carries. With the internet making the world a smaller place every day, you can now find baby carriers of all shapes, forms and fashions. With a little searching you are sure to find a baby carrier that will fit your needs.

Finding the best baby sling is a personal journey. Every baby will have different needs and every mother will have different requirements. One child may do wonderfully in a pouch and the second child (from the same parents) may refuse to stay put. Time can also be a factor. If you are only going to be using the pouch for a few minutes, then something that takes lots of straps or wrapping may not be justified.

The Ring Sling is one that is great for giving you a free hand around the house, and is mostly used with newborn babies. It consists of a length of cloth that is attached to two rings on one side. The other end of the cloth is threaded through the two rings, forming a pouch for baby. When the baby is in the pouch, the weight of the baby causes the threaded fabric to lock into place.

Fabric Pouches are similar in use to the Ring Sling, only without the rings. They consist on one solid tube of cloth that is draped over the mother’s shoulders and creates a pouch for the baby. These can be bought commercially or made by hand (just avoid slippery material if you do make your own).

Wraps are several yards of fabric that are wrapped around the baby and the wearer and then tied. It allows almost any piece of sturdy cloth to be turned into a sling or wrap (even bed sheets can be used for this purpose). The only limit to how you can secure the baby on the carrier is the length of the fabric that is being used. These are great for hands-free carrying – in the front or in the back. They can also be used to carry toddlers.

Backpack Carriers (or Mei Tai) is traditionally a square piece of cloth with straps coming out of each corner. It is secured by bringing all the straps around the person doing the carrying to be tied all together. It can act as a front or back carrier and can be used with toddlers or infants that can hold up their head well.

The best baby carrier is one that is comfortable and convenient for you and for your baby. Forget about all the hype and hearsay; before you buy a carrier you should try it out for yourself.

Heart To Heart Baby Carrier. Heart 2 Heart Baby Sling

Easy to wear Heart to Heart baby carrier. Baby carriers that are comfort to both mother and baby.

Heart 2 Heart Baby Carriers - soothing to baby, 10 GREAT positions. Great baby carrier for dads!

What moms and dads have to say about the heart 2 heart baby sling carriers

* My son is 8 months old and absolutely loves being in the Heart 2 Heart carrier. This side baby carrier is designed to be a comfort to mother and baby. I love the Heart 2 Heart carrier because…

* it can be used when baby is a newborn all the way up to a toddler. The maximum recommended weight is 40 pounds.

* my baby hardly ever cries when he is in the Heart 2 Heart carrier

* its a great baby sling for dads. Dads are particularly fond of the baby slings, as it allows dad to spend intimate time with baby!

* I use the Heart 2 Heart carrier when my baby is crying and he almost always stops crying when I put him into the sling

* the sling makes it easy to hold baby, and I find that the more babies are held the more content they are and the less they cry

* it makes me happy because I know that babies love to be close and feel the security of a parent or caregiver. The Heart 2 Heart carrier really allows this closeness, while allowing for your comfort at the same time.

* I breast feed my baby. The Heart to Heart makes it easy to breastfeed anywhere and I can do it with confidence knowing that the sling is providing me and my boy with privacy. In fact, because the sling has such a generous amount of fabric in the “hammock” where the baby is held it is very easy to breastfeed on both sides just by moving baby from one side to another without having to take him out of the sling. How easy is that?

* the Heart to Heart sling is truly hands free. When I want to get things done around the house I face my baby outwards so that he can see what is going on while I get things done around the house. When I want baby to ’settle down’ and I change his position so that he is snug up against me. He settles down and I am still able to accomplish tasks around the house, like writing this article.

* it makes it easy when traveling. For example, on an airplane during take off I just secure him snuggly to me. I feel better and I know that he does too.

The Heart to Heart sling…
allows baby to be in 10 or more positions

comes with a an instructional DVD, which clearly shows you how to put your sling on and adjust it for different situations and positions.

is really hands free. Other child carriers say that they are hands free, but this one is so adjustable with the upper and lower edges, which can be independently tightened, that you really are able to get things done, and keep baby comfortable at the same time.

is exceptionally comfortable. The padding in the shoulder makes it easy to carry any baby. I have tried several different sling type carriers and have never found one so easy to use and so comfortable.

Heart To Heart Baby Sling. 10 Reasons To Consider The H2H Slings

Heart To Heart Baby Sling. 10 Reasons To Consider The H2H Slings

The feedback that we received from Parents and Distributors over the years was instrumental in the design changes that were made to help us meet the baby carrying needs of our customers. Our goal was to provide maximum freedom and comfort for both the parent and the baby, who would often be carried into the toddler ages at 2 ½ years to 3 years old. We learned that many of the baby carriers on the market had a very limited usage time, that the level of comfort provided was unsatisfactory, the safety of the baby was a concern and the need for discreet breastfeeding was important. Also, the growing child would require the carrier to be versatile to accommodate changes in positioning, yet simple in design so that it would be easy to use. Armed with all of this feedback we made important design changes.

10 REASONS WHY … Experienced baby sling wearers have told us they prefer the Heart to Heart™ (H2H) baby sling

1. The H2H has a unique shoulder design which is less cumbersome and does not restrict arm movement. The rings are on top of the shoulder pad and protect both mom’s breast and baby’s head. 4. Nylon Rings – H2H uses tested nylon rings made of superior strength that provide durability, lucid adjustability and grip the fabric securely.

2. Split tail design – offers infinite adjustment – the upper or lower edge may be independently adjusted for a perfect fit. The adjustability is essential for properly supporting baby’s spine and head. Many slings just give the illusion of adjustment.

3. Best Padding – we use consistent high density batting that is resilient wash after wash, is flame retardent and non allergenic. The H2H is fully padded at the sides and shoulders for extra comfort, protection and head support and is not bulky around the upper back and shoulders.

4. Nylon Rings – H2H uses tested nylon rings made of superior strength that provide durability, lucid adjustability and grip the fabric securely.

5. Wider width body – the deeper pocket expands to 40 inches wide and accommodates even a sleeping toddler up to 35 lbs. There is enough fabric for discreet nursing or to cover up baby in inclement weather.

6. Wide choice of quality fabrics – conservative, classic or stylin’, we have fabrics made of 100% soft breathable cotton to suit you !

7. Quality construction – one mother told us of carrying a sick 4 year old ¾ of a mile home. The H2H baby sling is designed to distribute the baby’s weight across the shoulders and back for parents’ comfort, allowing your baby to be held for longer periods of time.

8. Easy care – machine wash and hang dry – mostly 100 % cotton fabrics. The sling is lightweight for easy storage in a purse or diaper bag.

9. Demonstration DVD (10 min.) parents are taught how to utilize their sling to its full potential, learn how to wear the sling and use many different positions that allow baby to see the world, snuggle in for nap or nurse at will.

10. The H2H baby sling is a complete baby carrier …designed by a mother of four with improvements from continuous field testing since 1989 on thousands of babies.

Physical and Psychological Benefits :
Baby’s spine is supported; legs are kept together during the early weeks when the pelvis is developing.

Heart to Heart baby sling leaves both hands free for work or play while baby enjoys the security of a parent’s closeness (not to mention the great view).

Babies love and need to be held ! Your baby can enjoy the security and warmth of mom throughout the day; a baby who is carried more, cries less and develops well. Great opportunity for dad to bond with baby too!

The H2H sling allows you to respond to your baby’s feeding needs immediately while giving you the privacy you desire.

So easy to put on and take off, your sleeping baby can easily be moved to a bed or car seat without waking
